Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck
General Theme / Argument:
People have a choice to choose their mindset which will lead to either failure or to the goal.
Connection with ENT3003:
I've realized that success does rely a tremendous amount on mindset. There are certain skills that I could work on that could really be the spark for success. I had always heard about mindset being important but the story really made me believe that if I actually wanted to go through with the business I've created in this class I could.
Exercise Based on Reading:
Take a quiz based on the different mindset characteristics. Circle or choose the descriptions that you most relate to or best fits you. Then once you've figured out which mindset you are currently in, pick 3 important pieces you'd like to change to improve yourself.
Biggest Surprise:
I realized being stuck in a fixed mindset will not allow for as much improvement as a growth mindset would. My dad always told me we are constantly learning and that it is important. Now I see it is because improvement and growth is the key to a successful life or vision.
Hey Nina.
ReplyDeleteI like the book you chose. From my understanding it seems like you garnered a lot of knowledge from this book. Reading this seems like it allowed you to be more cognisant of how important your mindset is to your success. The idea of picking 3 important pieces to change seems scary at first but actually implementing it seems like it would be highly beneficial.
Hello Nina.
ReplyDeleteI see that you picked a book to read that many others did not choose, including myself. After reading your summary and reading your course work relation to the article, I realized that you picked a great mind stimulating book. Your "biggest surprise" actually did surprise me just a tad. Thank you for standing out the box and picking an amazing book while doing so.
