My Failure
This semester I've actually failed on multiple quizzes, or "cupcakes." This is obviously because I either didn't take the content seriously, or didn't utilize it at all. Whenever I do this, I assume I will just get lucky by guessing, but obviously that isn't the case.
What I Learned
I learned that if I want a specific outcome out of anything, I need to put the actual work in for it. In this case, the effort is simply watching the lectures in their entirety. But, in anything, you have to put 100% if you want to see that great outcome you envision.
Reflection
Before, I used to take failure and dwell on it. Now, instead of just sulking on it, I just try to bounce back. To do this, I plan exactly what I need to do in order to not cause the same outcome. This class really has allowed me to take more risks without being too careful in deciding to. Taking risks lead to way less regrets and creating "what if" scenarios. I've taken a new "go for it" mindset instead.
Hi Nina,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your failed guessed at the cupcakes. Yet, I am not surprised in the failure to find success by randomly guessing. I have felt challenged by many of the cupcake questions even when I have watched all the lectures and taken notes. One of the things I wish we had access to in this course would be the power point slides. I realize Dr. Pryor speaks contemporaneously about a topic often from just a picture. But when there are text or notes in the power points I find that I am frequently pausing the video to copy the information down. This can lead to a broken up viewing of the lecture, which later seems to have a negative affect on my cupcake performance. Minor quibble on my behalf, I suppose.
At any rate, you are not alone. Several of the cupcakes have been challenging!
Best Regards,
Suzanna
